Chita - the capital of Trans-Baikal Territory and the center of the Chita region, located in the western region, on the banks of the river Chita at its confluence in the river Ingoda. Date of establishment - 1653 year. Previous name - Plotbische, rafts, Chita settlement. City history, according to legend, begins with the village Plotbische, base detachment of Cossacks led by pioneer Peter Beketov.

Until 1897 Chita remained a small provincial town, and only in 1900, after the Chita Trans-Siberian Railway through, it is the largest transportation hub and industrial center of the Trans-Baikal.
