A small historical reference

Dolinsk - a town in the Sakhalin region, located on the south coast of Sakhalin Island in Susunai Valley, at the confluence of three rivers - Dolinka, Big Takoya and Naiba. Date of establishment - 1884. Previous name - Galkina-Vrassky (until 1905), Ochiai (until 1946). The city history begins in 1884 with the village of Galkino-Vrassky. In 1867 on the site of today's city was a military post Naybuchi - at the mouth of the river Naiba, near two villages Ainu Sianchi (sometimes called Siyantsi) and Otaku (is now called Takoya). In 1905, the village has departed to Japan. In the first quarter of XX century began to emerge coal and paper industry (paper factory built). In 1945 city returned to the USSR. In Soviet times the pulp and paper mill was one of the largest paper mills USSR.
