History of city Svobodny, Amur Oblast in photos

A small historical reference

Svobodny - center Svobodnensky district of the Amur region, in the south of the area, on the right bank of the river Zeya (left tributary of the Amur River). Date of foundation and the first written mention - 1912 year. Previous name - Alekseevskaya (until 1917). The city history begins with the founding the town Alekseevskaya, near of the village Surazhevka, named after the heir to the throne Prince Alexei.

In the 1940s - 1950s years the city's industry was producing lumber, railroad ties, self-propelled and no self-propelled barges, landing stages, spare parts for cars, presses, cranes, radiators, clothes, beer. City Svobodny transformed in the second industrial center after of Blagoveshchensk Amur region.
