A small historical reference

Geography: Founded in 1734 as the fortress of Verkhneyaitskaya, it was renamed Verkhneuralskaya after the Yaik River was renamed the Ural. Town status was granted to it in 1781.

Verkhneuralsk is the oldest city in the Chelyabinsk region. It was founded as the Verkhneyaitskaya wharf in 1734, in the era of development of the eastern edge of the Russian state, with the permission of the Bashkir tarkhan Taimas Shaimov. In 1737 was reconstruction of settlement by Colonel I.N. Tatishchev as a fortress.
