Yoshkar-Ola - the capital of the Republic of Mari El, located in the central part of the country, on the banks of the river Malaya Kokshaga (left tributary of the Volga). Date of establishment - 1584. Previous name - Tsarevokokshaisk (until 1919), Krasnokokshaysk (until 1927).
