Sibay - a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan, located in the southeast of the republic , in the mountain range Irendyk Zauralye. Date of establishment - 1913. The first written mention - 1920. The city history begins with the hunter from the village of Old Sibay, which is digging a hole martens, bumped into a heavy red clay with sparkles of pyrite, and in the end of 1912 New Sibai villager Amir Abdulkasimovich Hudayberdina taking away several bags of clay, took them to the Managing Director Baimak-Tanalykovo the governor of the South Ural Mining Joint Stock Company (YUGAO) AF Kabanov. Analyses showed that the clay contains iron ore with a high content of gold and silver. Administration YUGAO commenced exploration of the deposit. In connection with the discovery in 1913 of copper-zinc-pyrite mine appeared working settlement Sibay. Sibay quarry is one of the deepest in the world.
